讲座摘要:High-power optical fiber lasers are widely used in various applications, such as industrial manufacturing, medical treatments, and advanced defense systems. To implement high-power fiber lasers, a range of fiber optic components with high power-handling capabilities are essential: for example, pump/signal beam combiners, isolators, rare-earth-doped fibers, cladding power strippers, end caps, fiber Bragg gratings, pump LDs, and so on. In this talk, I review our group's recent advances in the high-power cladding power stripper technologies based on hydrogen fluoride (HF) - free chemical etching.

专家简介:

Prof. Ju Han Lee received the Ph.D. degree from the Optoelectronics Research Centre, University of Southampton, UK. He was a visiting scholar at the Technical University of Denmark (2002), a JSPS Research Fellow at the University of Tokyo in Japan (2003–2004), a senior member of the technical staff at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (2004–2007), and a visiting scholar at the University of Adelaide in Australia (2013–2014). He has been a Professor at the University of Seoul, South Korea, since 2007. His research interests include rare-earth-doped fiber lasers and amplifiers, ultrafast fiber lasers, nonlinear fiber optics, and optical communications. He is the author or coauthor of more than 220 international journal articles and 200 technical conference papers. From 2021 to 2023, he served as a Vice President of the Optical Society of Korea (OSK). He is a Fellow of Optica (formerly the Optical Society of America) and a Senior Member of the IEEE Photonics Society. Additionally, he is the founder of Kromanet Inc., a company specializing in fiber-optic components —— particularlycladding power strippers——based on hydrogen fluoride-free chemical etching technologies.
